Y Retreats are fun, exciting, and unique weekends away for people of all abilities. Each retreat enables participants to enjoy the best experiences that Victoria has to offer, and provides great accommodation choices for 1- and 2-night stays.
At Y Retreats, we prioritise fostering social participation and independence, empowering campers to make choices and take control of their experience in a supportive environment. Participants engage in a variety of skill-building activities, including teamwork, leadership development, and active communication, to achieve their personal goals. These inclusive camps are best suited for people with 1:3 and 1:5 support needs, aged 18 and over.
Highlights and benefits of Y Retreats:
- Inclusive activities: Y Retreats offer a diverse range of activities designed to cater to the interests and abilities of all participants. From outdoor adventures like a trip to the snow or dancing at music festivals, to the empowering ‘Have a Say’ Conference, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
- Person-centred: One of the key features of Y Retreats is their person-centred approach. Participants are encouraged to express their preferences and interests, and activities are tailored to accommodate individual needs and preferences. This ensures that every participant feels valued and included throughout the retreat experience.
- Experienced support workers: Y Retreats are staffed by a team of passionate support professionals who are experienced in supporting individuals with diverse abilities. They undergo extensive training to ensure they can provide the necessary support while fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all campers.
- Social connection: Beyond the activities offered during the retreat, we also emphasise the importance of community engagement and social connection. Participants have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with their peers, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie that extends beyond the duration of the retreat.
- Independence: Y Retreats also aim to support campers in developing essential independent living skills. Through hands-on experiences and guided practice, participants have the opportunity to enhance their abilities in areas such as meal preparation, budgeting and self-care, empowering them to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
