Independence & meaningful social connections
Our group programs support participants in building confidence, independence and meaningful social connections through a wide range of community, social and recreational activities.
Participants are encouraged to develop communication skills, build friendships, maintain relationships with peers and community members, and learn important social skills such as teamwork, turn-taking, waiting and respecting the opinions of others. Programs also provide opportunities to participate in group and centre-based activities that may be new or unfamiliar, helping participants feel more confident trying new experiences in a supportive environment.
Develop practical life skills
Participants are also supported to develop practical life skills that promote greater independence in everyday life. This may include learning to travel independently on public transport, managing money, looking after personal belongings, and participating in exercise physiology and wellbeing activities.
Where appropriate, participants can also be supported to attend allied health appointments and services, as well as engage in volunteer work, education and broader community participation opportunities aligned with their goals and interests.
