Crystal’s Journey with Inclusion Services

Crystal is a young lady who has been accessing various services with the Y for many years, including 1:1 support, social groups and Support Coordination. Up until recently Crystal has been living in a unit at the rear of her family home. Along with her support coordinator, steps were put in place to begin the process of moving into supported accommodation.

This was quite challenging with COVID restrictions in place but after following all necessary precautions Crystal was able to move in late last year. Although nervous and worried about moving out of home, Crystal has settled into her new accommodation extremely well. She is enjoying the company of her roommate and the other residents.

They enjoy local walks, going to the bakery for takeaway hot chocolates, playing Wii, singing, dancing and having a joke with each other. Crystal’s dad and the staff at the Y are very proud of her for making this move. Crystal has shown great courage and it is wonderful to watch her develop independence.
